Reviews for the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel and Spa Chester & Cheshire

"My wife and I booked through Superbreak at Thomas Cook. The location was perfect , a short ride into Chester with lots of parking but the park and ride is very close. The whole 3 day stay was amazing. The room; food, spa, and especially the staff, were all magnificent. We had dinner bed and breakfast and every meal was amazing. My wife requires a gluten free diet which in some hotels is difficult, the GM could not have been more helpful and accommodating, and my wife was made to feel valued rather than a nuisance which is often the case. We will certainly return."

Trip Advisor, June 2013

"Had a two night spa break with friends. Lovely room, great facilities and a fantastic bistro restaurant with divine food and friendly and helpful staff. Attention to detail throughout results in a very well-run hotel that is spotlessly clean, well maintained and sharp.
There is a top of the range spa facility with well trained and friendly staff that the wives made great use of. There is also a huge pool and well equipped gym.
We all felt very comfortable and relaxed during our stay. The hotel has lots of areas one can relax in with varying styles depending on your mood. This hotel is excellent value for money and worth a visit.
We all wished we could stay longer. Highly recommended."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"We returned for our first anniversary after having our wedding here last April. We had a fabulous time from the moment we arrived. Afternoon tea in Ciro’s was divine. Maurice recognised us and came to say hello which we thought was so lovely. The hotel, staff, rooms, spa, food, service and ambience of the hotel is amazing. I cannot fault anything, a fabulous hotel and cannot wait to return next year for my second anniversary."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"A beautiful hotel from beginning to the end of our stay. We had a warm welcome from all the staff. Our room had 2 floors with a spiral staircase, and it was beautifully decorated and clean with great views onto the gardens. The evening meal in Ciro’s restaurant was great and breakfast was also lovely, both with a great service. We enjoyed the swimming pool etc. Thank you for making my birthday."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"Excellent hotel! Lovely rooms, very good service. Lovely meal in restaurant. Well placed for visiting Chester and N.wales. Beautiful pool/spa/grounds. Good Value for money. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and of good quality."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"A treat from my husband after a busy few days and wow what a lovely hotel. We were in the refurbished rooms which were very smart and funky as well as comfortable. Great big bed and a TV in the bathroom!! What's not to like. Food was delicious, piping hot and served with a great selection of wines. A special mention goes to Maria who looked after us in Ciro’s who was a really lovely knowledgeable staff member and great advocate of the hotel. Hope to get back sometime to stay again and make use of the spa too."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"This is the 4th time we have stayed at this hotel in the past year and once again we weren't disappointed. Lovely room with a great view overlooking the wonderful gardens, we had a fantastic meal in Ciro’s and the staff and service was excellent, very friendly staff. A great place to treat yourself and partner."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"Everything is lovely here - ticks all the right boxes. The interior is classic and stunning. Very popular but still remains discreet and quiet. Sunday carvery very special - book.
So if you want to visit Chester but stay out a bit in an old English hotel, this is for you. Perfect for a weekend away and business meetings - I can assure you they will attend to everything. You will definitely be looked after.
Perfect location for a wedding!  I will bear my own comment in mind if my husband of twenty years gets any more annoying!"

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"We had absolutely no expectations of this hotel, having chosen it purely out of convenience (being located near to Chester) and having hotel vouchers which were redeemable at a limited number of places.
What can I say, we were absolutely bowled over. Staff on reception were friendly, cheerful and enthusiastic. Our room was upgraded when we mentioned we were on honeymoon, and the guy who checked us was exceptional. He talked us through different dinner options, explained the facilities and we felt went the extra mile.

On top of this, our room was spotlessly clean, a great size, and with lovely facilities. We enjoyed the swimming pool and I had a spa treatment - again, all of which were exceptional. I felt the place got the balance perfectly between the feel of a large corporate chain hotel and a smaller boutique style affair, with the best features of both. We will definitely be back, maybe even for our wedding anniversary every year. I'm sure the place would be wonderful as a wedding venue too, certainly from our impression of the food, breakfast and facilities, the team here know exactly what their customers want and are determined that every person that visits has a wonderful time.
Can't recommend highly enough."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"The hotel is lovely throughout, clean and tidy, all the staff were lovely. The room we had was an executive, large and clean. The day spa area looked fantastic will consider returning for this.
The hotel is about 10/15 mins from Cheshire oaks and only about 5/10 mins drive from the centre of town. Overall a great stay and would recommend it to anyone, as a travel agent myself I do find it hard sometimes to recommend as everyone tastes are different but I would happily say stay here."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"Just returned from our 2nd visit to the Grosvenor Pulford and wasn't disappointed, everything was perfect. I have so say that I have never stayed at a hotel where the staff are so helpful, reception, bar and restaurant staff and in the spa. Breakfast is great with a good choice of food, both restaurants offer good quality and choices of food. The whole hotel as a nice relaxing feel to it. Highly recommended."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"A very nice hotel set in a lovely location. Great bar and restaurant and the rooms were very clean, modern with everything you need for a night’s stay. Didn't get a chance to experience the Spa facilities due to late arrival early departure but would definitely stay again....one for my top list!"

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"We stayed here for one night in April using a Living Social voucher.
As we had such a good deal with the voucher, I thought we would be given an inferior room, but not the case - when we checked in we were given a lovely spacious room (nowhere near the function room!) which could have actually doubled up as a family room as it had a separate living room area.
We had a lovely evening meal in Ciros restaurant with free bottle wine (compliments of the voucher) & full English breakfast following morning also as part of the deal.
Overall a relaxing weekend made even better by the great value voucher. Would recommend."

Trip Advisor, May 2013

"I have been fortunate enough to spend time at some of the UK’s leading spas and spa resorts over the previous 12 months but I have found that the services and levels of customer service at the delightful Grosvenor Pulford to be truly second to none! Based in the ideal location from which to explore the area with its many attractions and activities, just a few miles out of Chester city centre.

The rooms are beautiful and the little touches like the mood lighting and luxurious toiletries serve to further enhance your stay. The food in both the restaurant and bar are excellent and have something for everyone. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the spa eatery after receiving our treatments of pedicure and full body massage. We found every member of staff we encountered throughout our 2 day stay from reception staff to waiters in the restaurant and spa staff giving treatments to be friendly, helpful and highly professional in their levels of service and attitude towards customers, I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to anyone! Great for families and a perfect romantic location too, lovely gardens to enjoy and a fabulous atmosphere throughout the hotel!

Have stayed here 3 times now and had consistently exceptional service from booking to check out! A must if you're planning a stay in Cheshire!"

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"I recently stayed here for two weeks and I have to say the overall experience was really nice. The rooms were clean and cosy, the spa was so pretty and relaxing with a very nice atmosphere. I used the facilities of the pool, Jacuzzi and steam room all of a top standard. The staff in the main hotel reception, bar staff & Ciro’s restaurant staff were very friendly and great service was given every day. The food in Nelson’s bar had outstanding presentation as well as portion size. The flavours were incredible as was the same in Ciro’s restaurant, so much so we asked to meet the chefs in person to thank them. I would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel, if not then at least sample the food. Gordon Ramsay would even give a thumbs up guaranteed!"

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"Arrived on 19th April, very sunny warm weather. Hotel is well situated for Chester and it has all the facilities we wanted including pool and spa. We had a deluxe room on 2 floors which meant the bedroom was smaller but it was very nice. Breakfast was excellent. We had our evening meal in the Nelson "pub" onsite rather than the restaurant, Food was divine, wife had the sizzling chicken , it really did sizzle and I have the "house" burger, both were delicious. We would visit again in a heartbeat."

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"My partner and I booked for a 3 day break at the Grosvenor and were not disappointed in our choice of hotel. The staff, especially Gemma on reception, made sure our stay was without any problems. The room, complete with a four poster bed and extremely large bathroom was excellent. Also, being located in a quiet part of the hotel was perfect. We booked for the Sunday evening carvery, and were not disappointed in the quality and quantity of the meal. Again, the service from the staff was without fault. During our stay we tried Nelson’s Bar in the hotel for our other evening meal and would highly recommend both. The pool, sauna and steam room made a welcome "wind down" after our days out and we liked the fact that we had towels allocated to us each time we used the facilities. Would strongly recommend anyone staying at the hotel to take advantage of the spa during their stay - again excellent. All in all, the hotel was much more than expected and would not hesitate to stay there again."

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"This is the second time we have used the Grosvenor Pulford as a venue. Staff are very attentive and are concerned to get things right, which makes a difference. All the delegates were happy with their rooms and the food is great. Many used the swimming pool in the evening and enjoyed it. Our conference dinner was excellent - beef option was fantastic.

We will use again.

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"My wife and I stayed over for a short break at this amazing hotel. All the staff were so friendly and had no issues going that extra mile. We ate in Ciro's both nights and the food was first glass and well presented. Highly recommended to anyone. We will be returning very soon :-)

Thank you all again for a fantastic break

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"We stayed for two nights in an Executive Room which was large and spacious. The food and restaurants were good and the breakfast was really good. The spa is lovely and we were down there every day. The location is also really nice, out in the countryside, but close enough to Chester. I would recommend to anyway for a good weekend escape."

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night during the Grand National Weekend. As usual I did my trip advisor research and I wasn’t disappointed with the outcome. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. After a stroll around the very nice grounds, we sat on the comfortable sofas in the bar which is a popular place with the locals.

We had been in the car for most of the day so we decided to eat in Ciro's Brasserie. It was obviously busy (it was Saturday) because we couldn’t eat at the time we wanted and I was concerned about being rushed through the meal. We weren't. The staff looked after us well and the food (particularly the dessert) was very good. To top it all, the breakfast was excellent, the best hotel sausages and black pudding I have had in a very long time.

A very nice hotel and I would definitely go back"

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"We stayed at the hotel on Monday the 18th March 2013. My husband had booked us a room to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. We loved it!! What else can I say...
We arrived at the hotel early so that we could make use of the gym and spa facilities. The staff were lovely and were really helpful. We had a wonderful stay and will definetly be staying here again in the future"

Trip Advisor, April 2013

"We have just got back from a 2 night break at this gorgeous hotel to celebrate my Sister’s Hen Weekend, 6 on the first night 19 on the second. The staff, in particular Gemma and Nia were exceptionally flexible and accommodating during the planning stages, nothing was too much trouble. Upon arrival, Hayley looked after us, the ice buckets were sent up to the room, slippers and dressing gowns provided, anything we asked for was no trouble at all. The rooms are of an excellent standard and very spacious especially the executive rooms 50 & 51(huge!) We sampled both Ciro’s restaurant and Nelson’s for our evening meals. The treatments in the spa are excellent and well worth every penny, the pool area is beautiful and relaxing. Breakfast was filling and lots of choice. The attitudes of the staff were lovely and made our stay even more enjoyable, we will all definitely be back."

Trip Advisor, March 2013

"What a wonderful place!
A beautiful building and warm reception (both in the friendly manner and the roaring fire). There is a smarter restaurant and a pub type place too and some beautiful Japanese style gardens which our room looked out on to.

The pub had delicious burgers which we ate on big leather sofas in front of the fire
We spent Sunday in the spa - I wished we didn't have to leave! I'd booked us some massages to start in a VIP couples treatment room and these were a wonderful way to ease into the day

My favourite was the Hamman style room. You lie on a heated slab in a dimly lit room which then fills with hot steam. I could have fallen asleep in there it felt so good. There's a big rain like shower above the slab which you can switch on with a button so it turns into a dim, steamy wet room.
There's a large pool, another steam room, a sauna and a Jacuzzi as well as a "waterfall room" and you can try all of the products and creams they have out.
We were served a light, yummy lunch in our robes, looking out at the snow covered Japanese garden.
Just a wonderful stay - thank you!"

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"I have been going to this hotel for many, many years, on spa trips, evenings away with family and the partner, and not forgetting getting MARRIED there!! I keep going back because it is high quality in every way and they are constantly investing back into the venue which is something of a rarity these days, so it is nice to see they want to keep bringing a fresh experience instead of just taking the money and sitting on it. The food is always superb, and the staff are always so polite and friendly and there is nothing nicer and that makes you feel more valued as a customer as when they remember you and take the time to enquire how you are. I cannot recommend this place enough."

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"Stayed at the Grosvenor Pulford in early Feb, this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in, the spa is great, nelson’s pub is marvellous, we were sat in the bar late on Saturday night on a big leather sofa after a lovely meal in the bistro, had a rib eye steak that was to die for, the restaurant was absolutely full so it's a good idea to book before you go, we are going back very soon!"

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"My husband proposed to me at Ciro’s Restaurant two years ago and we wanted to spend our first wedding anniversary at the Grosvenor Pulford. What a perfect few days from the minute we arrived everyone was helpful and welcoming. Room 79 is beautiful and quiet at the end of the corridor. Food, spa, service everything was fantastic. Very relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel. Would highly recommend to anyone."

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"A beautiful hotel set in a scenic position demonstrating many old charm features. Staff very friendly in both the hotel and the bar. The rooms are beautiful and have been modernised really well.
The spa is really nice and as a resident at hotel you are able to go for a swim or use the whirlpool, sauna or steam room, treatments are available for additional price. The staff in here are also very helpful and friendly.
Set in good location £10 in a taxi to Chester which is fab if you are looking for a night out in town!
Had a lovely relaxing stay and would definitely go again."

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"The hotel was great with our dog, even though she is quite big. They gave us a room on the ground floor, with a patio door onto a small garden area. It meant we didn't have to keep taking her through the hotel. And it was only £15 for the night!

The spa was excellent - very nice pool"

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"Such an unassuming building turned out to be a fabulous historic experience with a brilliant modern twist! Booked a Living Social deal for a 1 night stay for 2 people for under £80 this included a bottle of wine and Spa entry. Stayed in room 71 which was contemporary, new and fresh, absolutely spotless, in fact there didn't seem to be one speck of dust throughout the entire hotel. The restaurant had a beautiful ambiance with low lighting, great crockery and cutlery with the added touch of fresh flowers on the tables, the staff were extremely attentive both at evening meal and breakfast helping provide an even better experience, (dinner for 2 cost under £30 for a starter and a main), breakfast was well organised with food replenished, hot plate area kept clean at all times and covers reset immediately. Spa area was immaculate and beautifully furnished, everything seemed to be incredibly maintained including outdoor areas. The hotel contains many water features which provide a lovely atmosphere especially outside in the Asian Garden (Lit up when dark) it must be fantastic in the summer. I would be so happy if the hotels I frequent around this country provided such a standard. Fantastic!"

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"Attended a wedding and due to the bad weather decided to stay over. We had an executive room which was beautiful. I had not been to this venue since 1996, the whole place has been completely renovated to a high standard. We are even talking about having our CP at this venue."

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"On a snowy day the comfy sofas by the fire with a lovely lunch and wine were just what were needed. All the staff here are really friendly, the food, either in the bar or in the bistro is varied, excellent and beautifully presented, the drinks are not overpriced. Rooms here are spacious and have all you could require. The leisure facilities were lovely, swimming pool, sauna, steam room. We'd definitely come again."

Trip Advisor, February 2013

"My wife and I recently chose a secret hotel deal for a three day break and with extreme luck it was this hotel. We cannot fault this place the staff are friendly and helpful; the room was spacious and very comfortable. We ate in Nelson’s Bar on one of the nights, the food was superb and there was plenty of it, the staff in the bar were great and remembered us and what we were drinking on each visit. We also treated ourselves to a spa day and only one word is needed to describe it..."Incredible"... the staff again were fantastic, I have never felt so relaxed and our treatments were absolutely brilliant. Cannot wait to one day re-visit the hotel and spa."

 Customer review, February 2013

"We stayed over at this hotel for a little break which was for a birthday & delayed honeymoon. All I can say is fantastic, staff- nothing was too much trouble, they had put some chocolates in our room which was a nice touch, the furniture in room 72 was fantastic, lovely big deep bath and TV to watch while having a soak, room clean and breakfast brought to room, excellent! The food was nice in the hotel, and we are coming back soon. Thank you to everyone at Grosvenor Pulford Hotel, Mrs J-k-Hamar."

J.K Hamar, February 2013

" Five of us booked into this hotel on the 30th Dec (our wedding anniversary) for a three night stay. On arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff and were booked in very quickly. We were overwhelmed to find brilliant rooms which were clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. For our evening meal we had booked into Nelson’s bar- the food was very well served even though they were busy, cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. The staff in Nelson’s bar were very efficient, friendly and knew what they were doing. For the New Year’s Eve party there were over 200 of us, despite this we had well displayed tables with great décor, a fab party atmosphere from the start, and a brilliant Thai buffet which was served fresh and quickly to everybody. We had a casino theme in one room, Rat pack tribute in another, and in Nelson's bar there was a Dancing Diva disco until 2.30am. Brilliant night was had by all. During our stay we were able to use the spa facilities free of charge, which included the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, We shall definitely be returning and recommend to anyone who wants a 5 star plus stay."

Trip Advisor, January 2013

" My partner and I stayed for one night over the weekend for a wedding and wish we could have stayed another night. It is truly a lovely place and all the staff including reception and cleaners were very friendly. The room was very lovely and well equipped, and the view from the window was amazing overlooking ponds and waterfalls. The venue for the wedding was brilliant as well, lots of candles and fairy lights made it very romantic, and the food was exceptional. We will definitely be looking to have another little break there. Very handy for the bus as well, as the bus stop is not far and there is a regular bus service to Chester."

Trip Avisor, January 2013

" Hubby and I stayed here for two nights including New Year’s Eve after doing a lot of research online after a disastrous new year break last year and we were a little reticent beforehand as we were unsure what to expect... Our fears were totally put to rest as soon as we walked through the entrance! The hotel is wonderful and was all we wanted, expected and more! We sampled the carvery on the Sunday evening which was the best I have had, mouth-watering lamb, beef and turkey and the largest Yorkshire puts I have ever seen! Veggies were all fresh and perfectly cooked and at just over a tenner were excellent value for money and worth the hours travel just to sample that alone. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated for the Christmas and New Year period and little lights twinkled everywhere, Christmas trees were abundant and everywhere was clean and well maintained. I sampled the delights of the spa with an Indian head massage and luxury manicure and will definitely be booking a spa pamper day in the very near future as the treatments and spa itself was wonderful, the pool was gorgeous as well and I would have used it more if it had been a tad warmer but that's personal preference and I love the heat!. We stayed in room nine which was reasonably sized, the bed was comfy and the little extra touches of bottles of Baileys, Jack Daniels and Thorntons chocolates were a lovely little touch for New Year's Eve that bought a smile to both our faces. We had a lovely time here and I could go on and on about the quality ingredients in the breakfast selection or the beautiful oriental garden or the friendliness of the staff but I think I will end here and get you to visit yourself and experience the Grosvenor Pulford, we will be returning next New Year’s Eve for another fab evening!"

Trip Advisor, January 2013

"Great service Beautiful rooms, especially 65-75. The food in the main restaurant has always been great and last night was no exception. A big thank you to Michael as when we told him that we had got married here he made sure we were looked after which has further cemented our loyalty to the Grosvenor Pulford!"

Trip Advisor, December 2012

"Us four girls stayed here in deluxe rooms for a spa weekend and had a fabulous relaxing time. Our two floor rooms were spacious and very comfortable!
The treatments we had were divine and the meal in Nelsons Bar was very tasty and over generous.

I will be returning in the New Year with my husband as I was entered into their prize draw and won!"

Trip Advisor, December 2013

"We go to the Grosvenor every year at Christmas and stop over and attend one of the Christmas party nights. The hotel is lovely and the spa and sensory garden are like a piece of heaven!
The decor and ambience of the hotel is warm and welcoming with roaring log fires and beautiful Christmas decorations. It’s like you are in a magical bubble for the night. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast in the morning is divine with everything you can possibly desire available.
The party nights are always excellent and get us in the Christmas spirit. Take that Again were fantastic and Dixi Tucker is hilarious and really makes the party go with a swing! The food is lovely and there are always party extras on the table to add to the atmosphere.
Can’t wait for next year!!! Would recommend this hotel to anyone"

Trip Advisor, December 2012

"Hotel just a short bus ride out of Chester city centre. Bus-stop 50 yards from hotel. We attended a Christmas party night and it was one of the best we have ever been to. Food was excellent throughout- In the function room and in the bar and breakfast. We did not reserve a table in the bar for Saturday night but the staff were attentive and asked us if we could wait about 30 mins. Soon enough the table was ready and we were kept informed of progress. Many thanks to Bobby for organising it for us.
Would suggest booking at all times though, due to the excellent food the place is always busy even in the bar. Rooms were lovely, nice and warm and clean. Reception staff very helpful regarding how best to get to the city centre. Cannot find fault at all"

Trip Advisor, December 2012

"We chose this hotel for our anniversary and it was perfect. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, this hotel was just what we wanted. I would recommend using the facilities on offer as they are included in the price and worth it. Pool was good and also relaxed for a while in the sauna. We ate in the gastro pub restaurant, the food was speedy and lovely!!! Staff were polite, and overall the experience was wonderful. Have already recommended this hotel to others. Worth going!!!"

Late Rooms, November 2012

"We went away for our ruby wedding anniversary, the hotel was 1st class from the minute we arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The room was the best room we have ever stayed in. The pool was very relaxing, we also made use of the gym. We took some lovely photos in the Asian garden, to make up an album to remember this special time. The food in the restaurant and bar was excellent."

Trip Advisor, October 2012

"Just arrived back from a Friday night stay for my partners birthday. This is a lovely hotel, very friendly, very clean and we had a beautiful room. The spa facilities were excellent although we didn't book any treatments, the pool, sauna and steam room were spotless and we were left very chilled out. The whole ambience was perfect in lovely settings. We decided on a bar meal in the pub rather than the restaurant and ended leaving half of it reluctantly, as the food was delicious but too larger portions to finish. Not your normal pub grub, restaurant quality. The breakfast and service of all the staff could not be faulted.

We both agree that although we are well travelled and have stayed at many top hotel chains, the Grosvenor is the nicest hotel we have stayed at. I would strongly recommend the hotel to anybody. Looking forward to future stays. Thank you to all the staff that made us very welcome."

Trip Advisor, October 2012

"Hotel fantastic, staff excellent, food all freshly prepared and mouth watering. Japenese gardens are a delight,We booked a wedding in the Grosvenor Suite and the whole day was a delight. The staff looked after us and the venue was superb for a wedding. The wedding breakfast was all freshly prepared, piping hot and delicious."

" We had a fantastic Christmas party last weekend. The function suite was beautifully decorated, the food was good and served on time and the entertainment was great. Staff really go out of their way to make sure everything goes smoothly from initial booking through to service on the evening. Thank you very much!"

Trip Advisor, December 2011

" My company stayed at the Grosvenor whilst attending a Christmas party night and it was fabulous!!! The food was lovely, the rooms were great, the whole atmosphere in the Hotel was very Christmassy and the staff couldn't do enough to help....There was a drag act at the beginning which was all good fun and not OTT, the live band created a great atmosphere and then the bar stayed open to allow us to continue partying till the wee hours. We may be back there again next year!!!

Trip Advisor, December 2011

"We enjoyed a fantastic 3 night stay. Staff could not have been more helpful & charming. Restaurant food very good - in particular the carvery on the sunday evening was the best we have ever had! We have two children under 2 years, and they were well catered for - cots provided and highchairs - even a glass of milk at bedtime wasn't too much trouble. Great that we could use the swimming pool (which was as good as the pictures look). We shall use this hotel again as a base for exploring Chester and the zoo. Thank you to all the staff - keep up the good work!"

Trip Advisor, December 2011

" I organised the stay as a surprise for my mums 60th....Having never stayed at the Hotel before and having taken on the responsbility of organising things I felt a certain amount of responsibility. I needn't have worried. The Hotel was fantastic and the staff all happy, helpful & attentive...The facilities in the Spa were great and everything had been thought of from the hair straightners in the changing rooms to the therapist coming into the pool area and offering around fresh fruit...All in all I think the hotel ought to be very proud of both its facilities and its staff and I have already been recommending it to friends...."

Clare Radley, December 2011

"I stay in hotels a couple of nights every week up and down the country and quite frequently in recent times with yourselves. It's easy for people to criticise when they are not happy with things, however compliments are not always as forthcoming, therefore.....I would like to pass on my appreciation for the continued excellent service levels that I and my staff are getting from your hotel. Nothing is too much trouble as I found out this week on a couple of occasions."

Paul McDonnell, November 2011

"Excellent stay. Total relaxation from start to finish. Perfect Anniversary treat!"

Clare James, October 2011

"I have been staying at the hotel for nearly one month! Friendliness of staff made it feel like a home from home. Special thanks to the night staff who supplied my daily 'doggy bag' breakfast!"

J. Callagan, October 2011

"We stayed for a Sunday night and had a thoroughly good time. The welcome was warm and friendly. The room was very well appointed and very well decorated. We ate there for the Sunday night carvery and for breakfast. For both the quality and service was superb. I used the swimming pool, steam room and sauna all of which were clean and well done. They are working on a delightful Japanese style garden that looks good already and is likely to be superb. If you fancy a break in the country, this is the place to go.

Trip Advisor, October 2011

"I took my husband for a one night spa break last weekend and could not find a single fault with this Hotel. Beatiful Courtyard, comfy beds, friendly, kind, caring and knowledgable staff. Lovely bar and restaurant with gorgeous food and excellent friendly service. Sumptious breakfast and attention to detail in our rooms with well stocked coffee and tea tray and finally.....the spa. What a lovely, well kept facility with staff that fell over backwards to please. Crina was so lovely we could have taken her home and Sue's massage was to die for...Thank you for making this birthday treat so special we will definitely recommend this Hotel & Spa to friends and family."

Mrs J Alland, September 2011

" I treated my partner for his birthday to an overnight stay and dinner at the Hotel...We enjoyed a pleasant afternoon with traditional afternoon tea outside in the Courtyard and a beautiful meal in the Brasserie in the evening and I could not fault the staff for friendliness and helpfulness. It must have been good as I'm normally difficult to please!"

Trip Advisor, September 2011

"Stayed over a weekend in July. The staff could not do enough for us no matter what our request. The Hotel was busy with Weddings but this did not stop us getting an excellent service. A fantastic meal was served in the Nelson Bar on the Saturday evening. Excellent breakfast on the Sunday and Monday morning. The room was well sized, very clean and quiet even though Weddings were taking place all weekend. The Wedding we attended on the Sunday was absolutely fantastic and ran like clockwork. Gardens to the Hotel were superb..."

Trip Advisor, August 2011

"Only stopped one night...The gardens are a nice walk. They are also creating a Japanese style garden which will only add to the ambience of the Hotel. We had a superb meal in the Hotel Restaurant, Ciro's. My wife and I had one of the best veggie meals we have had for a long time...The staff were helpful and friendly and there was always someone around that would answer any queries. All in all a great Hotel & Spa, where you don't feel rushed, but relaxed."

Trip Advisor, August 2011

"Stayed for a weekend family event. All enjoyed the accommodation. Highlights were the private dining room with fantastic service particularly from the head waiter whose attention to detail and thoughtful service really made the event something special. The quality of the food is great; way above average...both the evening meals and the breakfasts were excellent. Excellent location for Chester; outside the main city centre but close enough for easy travel."

Trip Advisor, July 2011

"Just a quick email to thank all the staff at the hotel for the fabulous service I experienced during my stay with you last night. It was my first visit to your hotel and I was very impressed with the luxury and service which was bestowed on me throughout my stay. I will be staying again soon and am now considering the venue as a place to hold conferences for my company. Once again thank you all very much for a first class break and impeccable service."

"I would just like to say a big thank you for the lovely two days that my family and I have had with you over Easter. Everything was perfect, the kids enjoyed the Easter eggs and the pool. Lindsey and I enjoyed the wine, chocolates and the sun in the gardens. It was great to stay with you again and not have to think about going to work and it felt as though I have never been away. It was good to see happy familiar faces and catch up on what’s been going on. Once again, thank you all so much."

M. Woodall, February 2011

"Couldn't fault the hotel. Very comfortable room and bed, the food is excellent in both Ciro's Brasserie and in Nelson's bar. The spa treatments and the pool are well worth using. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is great both for Chester (can get into the centre and parked in 15 minutes) and also for North Wales. We had a super relaxing break. Thank you!!"

Trip Advisor, January 2011

We have recently enjoyed an excellent weekend stay with you, thank you for a fantastic New Year’s Eve and compliments to the chef, staff and management.

G. Mahoney, January 2011

One of the friendliest hotels I’ve stayed in, food was excellent; staff were attentive without being intrusive, well done.

C. Hunt, January 2011

Fantastic stay, absolutely lovely accommodation and staff extremely friendly. Thank you!

R. Smith, January 2011

"I just wanted to take the time to write a thank you for your hospitality over our recent 2 night break. Having not visited the hotel, right from the moment we pulled onto the car park, we were very impressed and this feeling only extended as we approached the extremely helpful reception staff. We were a little early on the first day to check in and went for a bite to eat and a pint in Nelsons bar which was one of the nicest burger and chips either of us had ever eaten! The food in the brassiere later on that evening was even better as was the service from your staff right throughout our stay! The New Year’s Eve party was excellent and the food that night in the Thai buffet was outstanding. In terms of the spa, we both felt the staff, ambiance and the look / feel of the spa was second to none that we have ever experienced before! If it was my business, I would be extremely proud! Many thanks again and we have already recommended our friends to go and stay there and indeed, we will be back ourselves over the coming months!"

A. Donaldson, December 2010

"A super weekend venue, though we could have stayed on for longer quite happily! We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect from thoughtful room change to avoid the wedding party excitement, to the polite and enthusiastic staff who all seemed determined to do their part in making our stay a pleasant experience. Extremely well tended gardens, excellent spa and fitness/pool centre. Immaculate cleanliness everywhere. Perfect countryside location handy for Park & Ride into Chester. We also enjoyed the zoo! We look forward to making a return visit."

Jan Porter, Trip Advisor, August 2010

"My husband and I visited for 2 nights for a short getaway and a bit of pampering at the Spa. We took our dog with us and the room was perfect for us. It was accessed through a separate entrance so that you didn't have to go through main reception if you didn't want to. Immediately outside of our door was a large and beautiful conservatory and courtyard area where you can sit with your dog and have a drink and a chill. The food was lovely …The staff were friendly and the service was very good. We had booked Thai massages at the Spa for the Saturday and they had put us in the couples suite which was really nice. The massage beds were heated and the massage was great, the best we have ever had! On our second evening, we ate at the brasserie. The food here was excellent … The breakfast was also great, a hot buffet that you can help yourself to. We didn't actually venture out of the hotel during our stay, only to walk the dog in the lovely grounds and down the road. We had a lovely time and will definitely return again."

Trip Advisor, July 2010

"Lovely hotel with a great location. Pool, sauna , jacuzzi - excellent facilities. Staff are very friendly and helpfull. Would certainly stay here again!"

Trip Advisor, July 2010

"I've been staying at the Grosvenor Pulford 4 times per month for the last 2 years because of work commitments in Chester. Everytime I have stayed I have received unfailingly excellent service and I just wanted to express my gratitude. My circumstances have changed and my job will no longer take me to Chester. I would especially like to thank the reception staff who always ensured that I stayed in a comfortable room and even contacted me during busy times to see if I required accommodation. I was always greeted with a smile and was made to feel extremely welcome. A credit to any hotel and often different to other hotel experiences! Once again, many thanks for your excellent service during my stays at the Grosvenor, all the best for the future and if I am in your neck of the woods in the future, I'll be sure to stay with you! Thanks."

Mr R. Fraser-Allen, July 2010

"Stayed here for Chester Races weekend with ten other people, what a little gem, fab food (Restaurant Manager gave us top class service), great service by all staff, spa beautiful and relaxing."

TripAdvisor, June 2010

"A first class weekend enjoyed by all members of our party of 10. A well run Hotel with first class facilities, the atmosphere was just right with a very helpful team in all departments. We dined in the restaurant on Saturday night and decided it was that good we would try it again on Sunday... Well done everyone you have certainly set the standard for others to follow."

Mr S Sewell, June 2010

"First visit celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. Excellent hotel, loved every minute! The staff are fantastic, would definately return and recommend to friends and family."

Mrs W George, April 2010

"I was lucky enough to be taken here as a birthday treat from my partner. We had a lovely romantic few days away. The hotel itself is lovely with both the bar and restaurant areas clean and nicely decorated. In the evening they are dimly lit with candles and quiet enough for a romantic drink and meal. Our room was nice, big enough for a few days and the bathroom with its complimentary toiletries was more than adequate. The pool and jacuzzi and sauna areas were luxurious and everyone at the spa was more than helpful. I had not booked any spa treatments in advance (even tho this is advised) and the staff did their best to fit me and my partner in. All the therapists were professional and thoughful throughout and really made you feel like your were the only person there and did their best to ensure you got the most out of the treatments. The location was perfect for going out in the day for a drive to Chester or further afield. Some nice restaurants in Chester city but not many bars.
Overall it was a perfect romantic getaway."

TripAdvisor, March 2010

"1st class! First time here and will return. Difficult to find a problem with your hotel. People very good. Shining light in the hotel and restaurant industry."

B. Pinches, January 2010

"This, without doubt, is one of the nicest/best UK hotels we have stayed in. Food was out of this world!!"

Mr Prendergast, December 2009

''I would like to express my thanks to everyone involved in making our staff Christmas party the most enjoyable night we've experienced as a works group. The quality of service and the pleasant manner of all the staff was remarked upon by everyone... I would also like to include in this brief note a mention for the excellent standard of cuisine and entertainment provided by the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel... May I say in conclusion that I would have no hesitation in recommending your hospitality to others... and don't be surprised to be asked to provide it for our group again next year!''

DW Williams, December 2009

"This hotel was recommended by a friend of my mother's.  We were uncertain as to what to expect as recommendations do not always meet up to expected standards.  However, I wanted to write to let you know that our expectations were well and truly met, and even surpassed.  There was absolutely nothing we could find fault with. Our room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, nice and warm and serviced on both days to the highest standards. The quality of the food in both the breakfast bar and in Nelson's was excellent and of the highest standard. We were very impressed with all your members of staff - without exception, they were all extremely pleasant  and terrifically efficient. It was nice to see a little bit of Britain which actually worked and maintained good old fashioned standards, the like of which seems generally to be in short supply these days! We will certainly be returning."

E J Griffiths, November 2009

''Because of the excellent service both my wife and I recieved during our brief time at the Grosvenor Pulford, I felt I should write and congratulate you on the efficiency, helpfulness and pleasantness of all the staff who were on duty that evening and the following morning. Having been fortunate enough to have frequented 5 star hotels in both the East and Americas, the staff and service under your direction was as good and sometimes even better than anywhere I have experienced! Please pass on our thanks to all of the staff who made our brief stay a most enjoyable one.''

Mr Phillips, October 2009

"Stayed here as part of a spa package for my 30th birthday. The rooms were lovely, beds were comfortable, staff very friendly and welcoming. The spa itself was clean, well run and so relaxing! Got use of all the facilities all day which was great. Had dinner and breakfast here and the food was outstanding. Will definately come back!"

TripAdvisor, March 2009

"Just a quick thank you for making our stay at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel so enjoyable on the occasion of Simon and Kelly's wedding on Saturday 7th February 2009. My wife, as mother of the Groom, was delighted at how the day went and it was obvious there is a well organised team to make sure everything goes smoothly. Friends and family who also attended the wedidng were full of praise and we all felt the accommodation was excellent.  Thanks once again, we hope to stay with you again, especially as Chester is so accessible from the hotel."

Mr & Mrs Harrison, February 2009

"This hotel has excelled all my expectations. The evening meal was wonderful - my compliments to the chef!! The staff were extremely attentive and very friendly. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to everyone and would hope to return very soon."

D. Lucas, January 2009

"Loved every minute! Our room was ground floor via conservatory walkthrough - beautifully furnished, very modern! We chilled out in the pool before dining in Ciros - of which the food is beautiful, we sat to the right of the bar 'away from the main restaurant' by some lovely twinkly lights - very romantic. The following day we were pampered in what I can only describe as the most palatial spa ever, we had Hamman for 2, then I mini facial & hubby back massage - suffice to say we floated home! Perfect!"

TripAdvisor, January 2009

"I just wanted to drop you a quick email to thank you ever so much for a wonderful stay over the new year. We arrived on new years eve and stayed two nights in an executive room. We shall definitely be staying with yourselves again and as stated would like to thank you all for such an enjoyable new years eve."

Mr & Mrs Currer, New Year's Eve 2008

"A truly memorable Christmas which was made even more special by the wonderful staff. Our sincere thanks go out to them all who worked tirelessly to make this such a special time. The hotel was outstanding with a beautiful yet individual style. The decorations were outstanding. Will certainly return should the opportunity arise. Thank you all."

Mrs J. Pettitt, Christmas 2008

"The staff at this hotel really make your stay here brilliant. They worked so hard over our Christmas stay and were always helpful and friendly. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, can't fault it. We had a great time."

K. Bollard, Christmas 2008

"I had my Christmas party night in the Grosvenor Suite last night (19th) and just wanted to send a mail to say what a great night it was! The bar and room looked stunning, the staff were all dressed so smartly, the party accessories were a great extra. Take that 2 were amazing and all the other entertainment too. The whole evening was well worth the money and felt as if it should have cost more than it actually did. Overall a very classy fun night thank you, would definately book again next year."

Mrs N. Roberts, December 2008

"On behalf of all my friends, we would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for a marvellous time. From the moment we arrived at the hotel which looked amazing. The lunch, the pool, dancing to Wham and the meal was superb. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We could not fault anything."

C. Robertson, December 2008

"On Saturday 29th November 08 colleagues and I had our Christmas party. As organiser and on behalf of all in my party, can I say a big 'Thank you' for making the stay/party such a great success. The function was exceptionally well organised, the facilities excellent and the staff welcoming, friendly and attentive. I did not hear one bad word from my party of 36 and that is a credit to all at the hotel. Many many thanks for all hard work."

Mr S. Perry, November 2008

"My husband and I booked a spa day and romantic package - dinner, bed & breakfast with Champagne and chocolates in your room. Our spa day began with an indian tea ritual, followed by full use of the leisure facilities, lunch in the spa's eatery (which was catered for by the hotel) and then our treatments. The staff were lovely, very helpful and encouraged a relaxed atmosphere at all times. We felt totaly relaxed and pampered. The food was declicous with prompt and cheerful service.

After our spa treatments we checked into the hotel. Again the staff were welcoming and cheerful. Our room was of a good standard, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed our champagne before going down to Ciro's for dinner. Here again the staff were welcoming and the service was prompt but unobtrusive. The food could not be faulted, we both enjoyed our choices which were to a very high standard.

Breakfast was excellent, buffet style, but very high quality food and again the staff were prompt and helpful.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will be heading back for more indulgence when we get chance."

Cheryl, TripAdvisor November 2008

"The elegant Grosvenor Pulford Hotel is a large C18th traditional building, with a pretty front saloon/bar and a large italianate restaurant on the ground floor, surrounded by a few wings of 4star stylish hotel rooms. Certainly one of the best hotel we stayed at for our entire holiday in Britain, containing elegant bedrooms & bathrooms, a health club/”spa” with a giant romanesque pool, ample free parking. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family & intend to stay there again when next in Cheshire."

World Traveller from Australia, November 2008

"Had a wonderful, relaxing time....food was excellent....staff very friendly....leisure facilities very good and room clean and comfortable. Will visit again and definately recommend to friends and family...it has been a real pleasure."

Mr S. Marsh, November 2008

"I have just come back from a weekend away with the girls, Christmas shopping in Chester. In total there were 11 of us. We were greated warmly by the reception staff. The room I stayed in was lovely - clean, nicely decorated and everything you needed was there. The beds in the room were extreamly comfy. We used the swimming pool during our stay - the pool area was very nice and well presented.

We ate at Ciros, in the hotel. The food was plentiful and delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast the following morning was the usual buffet style - the hot food was hot and rather than put lots out at once, they kept bringing fresh. Again, this was delicious.

Check out was smooth and friendly and the hotel provided excellent value for money. The hotel has a lovely buzz about it and really nice ambiance. It's not like a big chain hotel, it's got a personal feel and lots of character."

Annonymous, TripAdvisor November 2008

"This hotel was wonderful from start to finish, we didn't stay long but the service was great, the food was beautiful, the place was very clean and tidy and the facilities were brilliant, I would recommend this hotel to anyone."

"My friend and myself stayed in your hotel on Sunday 3rd August and enjoyed your Spa Escape Package. We have been to many spas both in the UK and overseas and we are extremely fussy! We can honestly say that your Spa was the best we have ever visited and your hotel is superb. You are only half an hours drive from where we live but it felt like we were hundreds of miles away!! Your staff are excellent , your food is fabulous, the hotel is beautiful. We could not fault one thing - which is a rarity for us! Thank you - we will return asap!"

J. Morrell, Website Contact Form

"Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food in the restaurant excellent, nice atmosphere, not too formal so good for the children. Had spacious room allocated. Excellent spa treatments."

J. Swift, 27th July 2008

"I booked this break for 8 of us for my hen do. We stayed for the Friday and Saturday night and had a thoroughly brilliant time. The general ambience of the hotel was relaxed and classic. The bedrooms were spacious and in perfect condition. The food in Nelson's was good quality and plenty of it. The staff could not have done any more to help us. They went out of their way to book us a restaurant, organise taxis and anything we asked of them. The breakfast was plentiful and very well run. And the spa, well, perfect for the morning after the hen night before!
All in all I couldn't fault the entire experience!
RECOMMENDED HIGHLY"

Lancaster Traveller, TripAdvisor 14th July 2008

"One word to describe our stay -SUPERB. Possibly the best 4* Hotel we have been to. A great example of an English hotel - good location just out of town with a 10 minute bus service to the centre. Service great, food good, superb decor. What more could you ask?"

B. Collins, 21st May 2008

"Hayley was lovely when helping me book this surprise for my husband. Ciro's has great relaxing atmosphere. Bitter on tap in Nelson's delicious!!"

C. Greenwood, Customer Comment Form 3rd May 2008

"My partner and I have just returned from a three night weekend stay and enjoyed our time at the hotel very much. The whole of the hotel was well kept and tidy. The bedroom and its bathroom were both a good size, nicely decorated and very comfortable. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The bar was reasonably priced and was a nice relaxing environment. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and the food on both occasions was lovely. Breakfast is served in the same restaurant and is buffet style, all of the hot food was fresh. We used the swimming pool etc on two occasions, the pool is of a decent size and overall the facilities were very good. The hotel is 5/10mins from the centre of Chester and is easily accessable by bus, with a stop a short walk from the hotel and a taxi back to the hotel after a days shopping cost us less than £10. In summary I would recommend this hotel with out question and we look forward to having another short break at the Grosvenor Pulford."
